Our two daughters, aged 3 and 1, currently attend Caversham Nursery and we couldn’t be happier with their care. Noorjahan and the team provide a warm, nurturing environment where our daughters feel safe and excited to learn. We really appreciate how the nursery fosters creativity and exploration, with daily outdoor activities that allow our girls to experience nature and try new things. The entire team’s dedication to child development and their passion for encouraging independence and curiosity is ever-present. We’re kept informed about our girls’ weekly activities and progress, which gives us peace of mind knowing they are happy and well cared for. We are so grateful to have found Caversham Nursery!

Why families stay
The things that matter once the novelty wears off
Any nursery can list its features. Here is what parents notice six months in, when their child runs to the door each morning.
- 01
They grow the rosemary, then roast the potatoes
Our children tend the vegetable garden in the playground, harvest what they have grown, and help cook it. Caversham roasties with rosemary is our signature dish. Food education that starts with soil under their fingernails.
- 02
One of the biggest gardens in North London
Our pre-school room opens directly onto a garden large enough for proper muddy play, not a token outdoor corner. The baby and toddler room has its own separate garden too. Space to run, dig, and get gloriously messy.
- 03
Yoga on Tuesdays, football on Thursdays
Weekly children's yoga and football sessions are built into the curriculum, not sold as extras. Balance, coordination, breathing, teamwork. All included in your fees, all led during the regular nursery day.
Our 10-day calm start gives every child a structured, gentle transition into nursery life.
What makes us differentWhat local parents say
Nothing tells you more about a nursery than the families who are already there.
My experience at Caversham Nursery has been nothing less than Amazing. My daughter went to the nursery and from day one of Entry she loved every moment and was so excited to go again every day. My son joined a year later, at first found it a little hard to settle but the Class team found what his interest were and every start of the day they had his favorite activities ready for him to come in and join. Both my children now love gardening, doing various activities and have made so many friends (Their teachers and TA's being their first friends when asked). What I love about Caversham is that they all meet the children's needs at a personal level, understanding the child and helping them be more confident, more social and character building. I myself have been a TA in a nursery however Iv never seen so much love and care at such a professional and personal level. Caversham really has such a lovely environment. We loved the Nursery so much we wanted more days during the summer holidays.
Since my daughter has been born, saying goodbye to this nursery has been one of the hardest things I've had to do. The staff are all so amazing, they truly care about the children and help them to reach their full potential. I'm so glad they have been apart of my daughters story. I highly recommend this nursery and hope to be able to return one day! ❤️

Things parents ask us
Common questions
Getting started
We know the first few days matter enormously, so we take settling in at your child's pace rather than rushing to a fixed schedule. Your child's key person will be with them from the very first visit, building the kind of strong emotional bonds that Ofsted noted in our 2024 inspection. Most families find a week or two of gradual, lengthening sessions works well, but we follow your child's lead.
Pack a few changes of clothes, nappies if needed, and any comforter that helps your child feel secure. For babies, bring clearly labelled bottles and any specific formula you use. We provide all meals, snacks and sun cream, so you can travel light after that first day.
Daily life
Days flow between free exploration and more focused activities like our weekly yoga sessions and football, with plenty of time in our large garden for muddy play and vegetable growing. Babies and toddlers have structured naptimes with a dedicated dark area for those who need extra sleep, while pre-schoolers have their own rhythm with quieter spaces available. Fresh fruit and vegetables are offered as snacks throughout the day, with hot meals from Zebedees at lunchtime.
All meals are freshly cooked by Zebedees and delivered daily, so children eat proper hot lunches rather than reheated food. We cater for all dietary requirements and offer fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks throughout the day. The children even grow their own vegetables in our garden and help cook them, with Caversham roasties with rosemary being our signature dish.
Your child's key person will speak with you at drop-off and pick-up, so you hear directly from someone who knows your child well rather than getting a generic handover. We also share photos and updates through our parent communication system, so you can see what they have been up to even on busy days when conversations are brief.
School readiness here means children learning to work in groups, follow instructions and approach tasks independently, but through real experiences rather than worksheets. Growing vegetables, cooking their harvest into Caversham roasties, yoga and football all build focus, turn-taking and confidence. By the time children leave our pre-school room, they are genuinely ready for reception because they have been practising those skills in ways that feel like play.
Safeguarding
We received an enthusiastic Good rating at the end of 2024. Inspectors specifically praised the strong emotional bonds staff form with children, our well thought-out curriculum, and how effectively we support children's communication, literacy and language. You can read the full report on the Ofsted website.
Fees and funding
Yes, we accept all government-funded entitlements for eligible two, three and four year olds. Our team can walk you through exactly what you qualify for and how to combine funded hours with additional sessions if you need full-time care. Just ask when you book your tour and we will explain the options.
